German photo studio based in Hamburg, with a branch office in Berlin from 1890 to 1911. Studio founded 1852 by Emilie Bieber (1810-1884), continued from 1872 on by her nephew Leonhard Berlin-Bieber (1841-1931). In 1902 (or 1904), Leonhard's son Emil Bieber (1878-1962, PND 128503580) became a partner and in 1911 sole owner of the studio. Emil Bieber began photographing in 1897; he learned in his fathers studio and also in Budapest and in London.[1] In 1938, Emil Bieber emigrated to South Africa.[2]
