Sofia Vitovtovna, present at w:Vasili II's wedding (her son), recognized that Vasily the Cross-Eyed wore a golden belt which had formerly belonged to her father-in-law, w:Dmitry Donskoi. Accusing Vasili of stealing, she solemnly pulled the belt from the bewildered prince. Disgusted with such a greed on Sofia's part, Vasili's father Yuriy of Zvenigorod left the capital and declared war, starting the Great Feudal War in Muscovy started on February 8, 1433
