Description

St. Charles Hotel, New Orleans, from postcard.
This landmark hotel was on the Lake side of the 200 block of St. Charles, where the Place St. Charles skyscraper is now. It was one of the city's top hotels in the late 19th and early 20th century. Probably past its prime by the date of this card.

The modernistic streetcars shown were a figment of the artist's imagination (possibly the artist was working from an image of the hotel from several decades earlier and attempting to make it look more up to date); the city's large stock of 1910s and 1920s streetcars were still on all lines until most were replaced by buses after WWII.

Author Not credited. What might be an artist's signature seems to be at bottom right as shadow of the streetcar, but it is not legible to me.
