Summary[edit]

Description
English: Fungi on a beech tree. This dying tree in woodland on Birnam Hill is host to many and varied fungi.

Whole tree - 1506106.

I am grateful to Geograph moderator Rob Farrow, who has contacted me with the following information: 'I think you'll find that the white fungi on the left are Oudemansiella mucida {aka Slimy Beech Tuft or Porcelain fungus} (compare with https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/583146 ) while the one on the right is a bracket fungus, probably Pseudotrametes gibbosa considering the host (Cf http://www.mushrooms.org.uk/largeimage.asp?id=203&qtitle=Pseudotrametes+Gibbosa+%2D+Side+view ) - though various other bracket fungi will colonise beech.
