Description
English: "The concrete House" is the first structure built of reinforced concrete in the land of Israel (1912). It is located on the banks of Yarkon river.
עברית: לפי הכיתוב בשלט: זהו בית הבטון הראשון שנבנה מבטון מזוין (בטון וברזל) בארץ ישראל. בית הבטון נבנה על ידי חברת "פלשתינה" בשנת 1912, והיה בבעלותו של בצלאל יפה. המבנה יועד להיות המפעל המרכזי לאספקת מים לחקלאי פתח תקווה. לבית הבטון חשיבות היסטורית נוספת, זאת בזכות העובדה שבבית השאיבה הותקנו לראשונה משאבות המונעות במנועי דיזל ומשאבות צנטריפוגליות חדשניות לתקופה. לאחר מותו של בצלאל יפה נרכשו המפעל על ידי חברת "ירקון" שהייתה חברה בת של חברת החשמל. מכון השאיבה פעל עד סוף שנות השבעים של המאה ה-20. בית הבטון ממוקם על גדות נחל הירקון בסמוך לפתח תקווה, ושביל ישראל עובר בצמוד אליו.
