Изготовлен ленинградскими заводами "Балтийский судостроительный" и "Красный Путиловец" в 1924 г. Является первым отечественным тепловозом. Проходил испытания на Московско-Курской ж.д. в 1926-1927 гг. С 1934 по 1941 г. использовался на Южной ж.д. в качестве электростанции. С 1972 по 1997 г. находился на постаменте в депо Ховрино (Москва), затем поступил в музей.
