Summary[edit]

Description
English: Chibis decompression suit in the Technikmuseum Speyer. The Chibis decompression suit was used on the Salyut space stations and on the Mir space station. It is a vacuum suit for regulating blood circulation in the lower extremities. The weightlessness in space causes the blood to move to the head and upper body. The Chibis suit creates a lower pressure around the lower body causing an enhanced blood flow to the legs.
Deutsch: Chibis Dekompressionsanzug im Technikmuseum Speyer. Der Chibis Dekompressionsanzug wurde auf den Saljut Raumstationen und auf der Raumstation Mir eingesetzt Es ist ein Vakuumanzug zur Regulierung der Blutzirkulation in den unteren Extremitäten. Da durch die Schwerelosigkeit im All das Blut nur in den Kopf steigt, musste man Abhilfe schaffen. Der Chibis Anzug erzeugt Unterdruck und zieht somit regelrecht das Blut in die Beine.
