Picture from or near Level Crossing Grade @ Andover St. at the North end of MBTAs Lawrence, MA yard .near Broadway.

  • Image taken to illustrate both aspects of a switch-stand Target or Ball indicator.
  1. The near junction, points, or switch is set permissible to our viewpoint so train wheels hug the side nearest the building seen.
  2. The far junction shows 'a full red target', indicating the way is blocked meaning the points or movable rails are set against the RHS track; the mainline from the pov of the camera in fact has the 'track rights'.
