| Description | Visits to many branch lines in France were only possible in the summer months largely due to an enhanced service. A typical example was to the Atlantic coastal resort of St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie which at the time of my visit in July 1990 still had one through train to and from Paris daily in the high summer. My carefully planned visit on 24 July 1990 saw me take a DMU down the branch from Nantes which can be seen in the far distance. On arrival I had a 20 minute connection back photograph the loco, no. BB66439 on train E3836 11:25 St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie to Paris Montparnasse. The loco would work as far as Nantes where the train would be taken forward by an electric loco. |
