Summary[edit]

Description
English: Map shows the per capita gross domestic product (GDP) on a purchasing parity basis (PPP), for 35 states and union territories of India at 2011 US$ equivalent basis.

The highest GDP per capita, on PPP basis, was observed in Chandigarh ($9,345 per person), while the lowest was observed in Bihar ($1,019 per person).

Other notes:

1. The Finance Ministry of the Govt of India uses the abbreviation GSDP (Gross state domestic product), which The Economist refers to GDP above. Sometimes it is also referred to as NSDP

2. The world average GDP per capita on PPP basis, as well the data for non-OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) nations is from The World Bank, as released in April 2014.
