Description
  • Italiano: Statua di Ercole con clava, pelle di leone e mele delle Esperidi. La statua fu scoperta nel 1864 presso il Teatro di Pompeo, accuratamente sepolta, e dotata dell'iscrizione «F.C.S.» (fulgor conditum summanium), che indica che essa fu "uccisa" da un fulmine che l'aveva colpita, e quindi "seppellita" in loco cerimonialmente. Si tratta di un bronzo dorato, opera romana d'influsso lisippeo del II secolo d.C. Oggi è collocata nella Sala Rotonda del Museo Pio-Clementino, nei Musei Vaticani. The statue was found neatly buried under tiles with the inscription “FCS” (“fulgor conditum summanium”), indicating that it was struck by lightning then buried on the spot.
