Description
English: U.S. Navy Lieutenant (Junior Grade) William Belden ejects from his Douglas A-4E Skyhawk (BuNo 150117, tail code AJ-505) as it rolls into the port catwalk of the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La (CVS-38) after suffering a brake failure following recovery, 2 July 1970. Lt. JG Belden ejected safely and was rescued by Shangri-La´s Seasprite helicopter. The A-4E was assigned to Attack Squadron 152 (VA-152) "Mavericks" which was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 8 (CVW-8) aboard the Shangri-La for a deployment to Vietnam from 5 March to 17 December 1970.
