Summary[edit]
DescriptionA natural spring on the hill - geograph.org.uk - 831712.jpg |
English: A natural spring on the hill The marshy area is a natural spring within the bounds of the hillfort. It's tempting to believe that it's been a water supply ever since the fort was constructed, and would have supplied our Iron Age ancestors with water too.
A concrete pad has been constructed at the outflow in more recent times, so that grazing cattle and sheep don't need to trample all over the marsh to get at the water. |
