Summary[edit]

Description
English: A sideways look at a 'Balloon' double-decker In 1934-1935, Blackpool took delivery of 27 streamlined double-deck cars, of which 13 were open-topped and 14 had enclosed top decks. The open-toppers were numbered 237 to 249, and in 1941 they were all rebuilt with enclosed top decks. Those thst had been enclosed from the start were numbers 250 to 263. Later all these cars were renumbered in the 700 series, in order, so that they became 700 to 726. The one seen here is No 722, ex-259. Many of the cars are still running: they lasted better than the single-deckers because for many years the were only used in Summer.
