| Description | Abbotsford House - Abbotsford, New South Wales. Built between 1877-78 for Sir Arthur Renwick, doctor and businessman, who was also a member of the NSW Parliament and first president of the NSW Medical Board. Named after Abbotsford House in Scotland, and later giving it's name to the suburb in which it stands. The estate was sold and subdivided in 1905. The house was sold to Peter McIntosh, who then sold it to Albert Edward Grace, one of the founders of Sydney department store Grace Bros. In 1917 the property was sold to Nestle, who built a factory on the surrounding grounds. When Nestle closed the factory the land was again subdivided for housing. |
