| Description |
English: Alexandra Palace The first Alexandra Palace was opened in 1873 as a 'peoples palace' but was destroyed by fire soon afterwards. The second palace opened in 1875 and in 1980 this, too, was largely destroyed by fire. I believe there was some discussion as to whether to demolish it completely but it was rebuilt and reopened in 1988. This shows it in 1982 with scaffolding supporting the walls.
