English: At the end of CABANAS 2001 ceremonies, senior American officials could focus on the terrorist attacks on the United States that destroyed the World Trade Center towers, killing thousands, and damaged the Pentagon, killing hundreds. (left to right) Argentine Army Lieutenant Colonel Emilio Renda offers his condolences to Lieutenant Commander Orlando Suarez and Major General Gary Speer, acting Commander of US Southern Command. Colonel Mike Borders, Commander of the US Military Group Argentina talks with US Ambassador to Argentina James Walsh. The multinational peacekeeping exercise took place in Salta, Argentina. This exercise is the largest joint and combined service exercise held in the region and it focuses on a variety of N.N. peacekeeping tasks including: tactical troop movement, food distribution, identification and marking of mines, civil-military, security and police operations. |
