Summary[edit]

Description
English: Audley End House. The front view of the magnificent Audley End House. The house was commissioned by the first Earl of Suffolk to entertain James I. King Charles II bought the house in 1668. The house was in need of repair by the 1680s though, so king William III returned Audley End to the Suffolk family. In the 1740s the house changed hands again, this time to the Countess of Portsmouth for her nephew John Griffin. 'Capability' Brown was employed to remodel the grounds. The house is now owned by English Heritage.
