English: Rare WWI Patriotic Zinc Medallion. D = 45 mm.

Trapp, Georg Johannes Ludwig, Ritter von, Korvettenkapitän, 1880 Zadar, Croatia - 1947 Stowe, Vermont, USA and Lerch, Egon, Alfred Rudolf von, Austrian Linienschiff Leutnant, 1886 Triest, Austria - 1915 Venice, Italy

Neptune walking between 2 U-boat submarines "U 12" (commanded by von Lerch) , and "U 5" (commanded by von Trapp) , that are carried by 2 naked men. Around : "DEN HELDEN- DER ADRIA von TRAPP von LERCH" (To the heros of the Adriatic Sea von Trapp von Lerch) / In 6 lines : "ROTES KREUZ KRIEGS- HILFSBURO KRIEGSFURSORGE- AMT 1914 - 1915" (= Red Cross War Office War Aid Office 1914 - 1915). Wurzbach 5140.

Medallists:

(Wilhelm) Hejda, Sculptor, 1869 Vienna - 1942 Vienna, Austria and (Heinrich) Zita, Sculptor,1882 Znojmo, Czech Republic - 1951 Wien.

The Austrian naval submarine officers von Trapp, and von Lerch conducted combat patrols very successfully in WWI in the Adriatic Sea.
