Summary[edit]

Description
English: ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, BUILT IN 1871, IS THE OLDEST STANDING CHURCH IN DOVER. IT WAS DESIGNED BY THE NOTED ARCHITECT RICHARD UPJOHN. THE EPISCOPAL CONGREGATION WAS ORGANIZED IN 1849 AND ORIGINALLY MET IN THE NEARBY STONE ACADEMY. THE CHURCH SERVED AS A HOSPITAL DURING THE 1918 INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
