Description
Français : Du Moyen Âge jusqu'au XVIIe siècle, les moines et les paysans ont activement modifié le réseau hydrographique, notamment en établissant de nombreux petits barrages. Certains se sont substitués aux barrages issus d'embâcles naturels ou construits par les castors (même si ceux-ci sont en Europe des constructeurs plus modestes que leurs cousins nord américains).
À noter qu'en conservant des volumes d'eau et une hauteur d'eau plus importante en saison sèche, ces barrages ont également pu "tamponner" les fluctuations estivales des nappes (car toutes choses égales par ailleurs, c'est la hauteur d'eau qui contrôle la vitesse de percolation, cf. Loi de Darcy).
