| Description |
Deutsch: Ehemaliges Gebäude der Kur- und Neumärkischen Haupt-Ritterschafts-Direktion in der Mohrenstraße 66 am Zietenplatz in Berlin-Mitte. Die Ritterschaftsdirektion war eine Darlehenskasse für verarmte, Land besitzende preußische Adlige. Sie ließ ihr Direktionsgebäude 1890-1892 von dem Architekten Hermann Ditmar im Stil eines Florentiner Renaissance-Palastes errichten. Das Gebäude stand an der Ecke von Zietenplatz und dem 8nicht mehr existierenden) Wilhelmplatz, gegenüber von Berlins damals größtem Hotel "Kaiserhof". Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg diente das wenig beschädigte Gebäude als Gästehaus der Regierung der DDR. 2007 wurde es umgebaut und gehört nun zum Komplex des Bundesministeriums für Arbeit und Soziales. Das gebäude ist als Baudenkmal gelistet.
English: The Kur- and Neumärkische Ritterschafts-Direktion, a former bank building at Mohrenstraße 66 and Zitenplatz in Berlin-Mitte. The Ritterschaftsdirektion was a loan institution targeting impoverished land-owning aristocrats as customers. Its administration building was erected 1890-1892 to a design by architect Hermann Dittmar imitation city palace of Renaissance Florence. It stood at the corner of Wilhelmplatz (no longer existing) and Zietenplatz, opposite Berlin's then largest hotel, "Kaiserhof". Only marginally damaged in WWII, it was used as guesthouse of the GDR government after the war. It was reconstructed in 2007 and is now part of the complex of the Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs. The building has been designated as a historic landmark. |
