Description
Français : Certaines transformations de noyaux vont libérer de l'énergie de liaison : c'est l'origine de l'énergie nucléaire. Ces transformations sont appelées réactions nucléaires. Elles sont de deux types (fusion et fission) :
  • deux éléments légers (e.g. hydrogène, hélium) produiront un dégagement d'énergie en fusionnant.
  • les éléments lourds (e.g. uranium, plutonium) ne peuvent dégager de l'énergie que par la fission nucléaire. C'est la réaction de fission qui est mise en œuvre dans les centrales nucléaires.
