Sont indiquées sur la carte les voies ferrées, les lignes télégraphiques terrestres, et les lignes télégraphiques sous-marines reliant la partie nord de Bornéo contrôlée par les britanniques à Singapour, et connectant le sud contrôlé par les néerlandais à d'autres parties des Indes orientales hollandaises, telles que Java et les Célèbes. La carte provient de Edward Stanford Ltd, carthotèque et maison d'édition de Londres créée en 1853 par Edward Stanford (1827-1904), et connu pour son magasin de Londres qui assiste de grands explorateurs et des personnalités politiques. English: This early-20th century map of Borneo shows infrastructure developments on the island, in large part associated with the growth of the rubber industry. Indicated on the map are railroads, overland telegraph lines, and submarine telegraph lines linking the British-controlled northern part of Borneo to Singapore and connecting the Dutch-controlled south to other parts of the Dutch East Indies, such as Java and the Celebes. The map is by Edward Stanford Ltd., a London map seller and publishing house established in 1853 by Edward Stanford (1827-1904) and known for its London shop that catered to famous explorers and political figures. The company expanded throughout the 19th century as the vogue for international travel and the expansion of the British Empire and commerce increased the demand for maps.
