Description
English: Three bronze images of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Java, 8th-9th century CE. The small seated Amitabha Buddha in the head-dress identifies these images as Avalokiteshvara, one of the most popular deities of ancient Javanese Buddhism. He takes a variety of forms, seated, standing and sometimes with multiple arms. British Museum.
