Description
English: Brown long-eared bat (Plecotus auritus) The brown long-eared bat is the second most common bat in Great Britain. It has exceptionally long ears that are almost as long as the body This medium-sized bat has broad wings and a long fluffy fur of grey-brown colour, with a light grey belly. The species can be found in open woodlands as well as in parks and gardens where the bats roost in tree holes, bat boxes and attics. They hibernate in trees, hollow walls, caves, tunnels and mines. Please note: the specimen depicted here was found dead in a garden and positioned as seen for the photograph so as to better show its features.
