Neubrandenburg, Stadtmauer ADN-ZB Bartocha 8.2.90 Neubrandenburg: Die sehr gut erhaltene Stadtbefestigungsmauer mit den Wiekhäusern und den Toren ist die bedeutendste Sehenswürdigkeit von Neubrandenburg. Diese Befestigungsanlage der 1248 gegründeten Stadt sucht in Europa ihresgleichen und steht unter nationalem Denkmalschutz. Die Wiekhäuschen, von denen es 53 gab, dienten einst Verteidigungszwecken. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurden sie größtenteils zu Wohnungen umgebaut. 1971 begannen der Wiederaufbau der kriegszerstörten Wiekhäuser und ihre gesellschaftliche Nutzung.
