For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Berlin, Rumänische Asylanten
Berlin: Rumänische Arbeiter Spärlich ist die Behausung - aber es ist eine erste Unterkunft für 600 Rumänische Bürger, die in der DDR Asyl suchen. Seit Monaten campierten sie auf dem Lichtenberger Bahnhof unter unmenschlichen Bedingungen und zum Leidwesen de Fahrgäste. Nun ist ein Teil der Frauen, Männer und Kinder in der ehemaligen NVA-Kaserne in Berlin Kaulsdorf untergekommen. Hier erhalten sie wenigstens eine Bleibe für die Nacht und drei kostenlose Mahlzeiten täglich. Sie kamen als Touristen, deren Ziel der Westen war, um sich dort eine Existenz fern von Hunger und Nöten aufzubauen. Dort schob man sie aber als unerwünscht ab. Nun sind sie wieder in Ostberlin - auf der Suche nach Arbeit und einem menschenwürdigerem Leben. |
