"Vindobona"-Express von Probefahrt zurück
Von seiner ersten Probefahrt auf der Strecke Berlin-Prag-Wien ist am 8.1.1957 der "Vindobona"-Express zurückgekehrt. Die Aufnahme dieser neuen Verbindung, die offiziell für den 13.Januar 1957 vorgesehen ist, gehört zu wesentlichen Verbesserungen des internationalen Reiseverkehrs von und nach der DDR, die auf der europäischen Reisezugfahrplan- und Wagenbeistellungskonferenz im Oktober 1956 in Lissabon vereinbart worden waren. Der von der Deutschen Reichsbahn gestellte neue Schnellzugtriebwagen erster und zweiter Klasse, der im RAW-Wittenberge gebaut wurde, erhielt auf Wunsch der Österreichischen Bundesbahn die Bezeichnung "Vindobona", den römischen Namen für Wien.
