For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild Weiß 13.10.1957 Ausgabe neuer Banknoten in der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik am 13.10.1957 Die Verordnung des Ministerrats der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik über die Ausgabe neuer Banknoten und die Außerkraftsetzung der deutschen Notenbank hat bei den Schiebern und Spekulanten wie eine Bombe eingeschlagen. Sie versucht das auf unehrliche Weise ergaunerte Geld der deutschen Notenbank umzutauschen. UBz: Am Kontrollpunkt Bernauer Straße, im Demokratischen Sektor von Groß-Berlin wurde in den Mittagsstunden des 13.10.1957 der 55jährige Wilhelm Stephan, wohnhaft im demokratischen Sektor von Groß-Berlin mit 8000 DM angetroffen, die er aus Westberlin mitbrachte. Stephan stellte sich beim Überschreiten des Kontrollpunktes betrunken und glaubte so der Kontrolle entgehen zu können.
