For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dresden, Altmarkt, Kolonaden, Arkaden Zentralbild Löwe 21.6.1958 Dresden - Spiegelbild des sozialistischen Aufbaus. Aus den unübersehbaren Trümmerbergen der Elbestadt sind seit 1950 rund 12.000 neu Wohnungen gebaut worden. Planmässig begann der Wiederaufbau Dresdens 1949 im Stadtteil Gruna mit modernen Gebäudekomplexen und vielen neuen Geschäften. Schneller und billiger zu bauen wurde 1956 mit dem industrialisierten Bauen durch die Anwendung der Broßblockbauweise verwirklicht. Bisher konnten 1 250 Wohnungen in der Montagebauweise errichtet werden. UBz: Kolonaden am Altmarkt.
