For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Erfurt, Mahnmal für Bombenopfer Zentralbild Blumenthal 1.9.1958 Tag des Friedens. Feierliche Enthüllung eines Mahnmals für die 1 392 Bombenopfer Erfurts. An der Stelle, wo im Ehrenhain des Erfurter Hauptfriedhofs, die 1392 Bombenopfer des zweiten Weltkrieges ihre letzte Ruhestätte gefunden haben, enthüllte am 31. August 1958 anläßlich des Tages des Friedens der Erfurter Oberbürgermeister Georg Boock unter starker Anteilnahme der Bevölkerung ein würdiges Mahnmal.
