For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild Mellahn-17.1.1960 MS "Völkerfreundschaft" herzlich in der DDR begrüßt. Das FDGB-Urlauberschiff "Völkerfreundschaft", das als erstes Hochseeschiff im neuen Rostocker Überseehafen festmachte, wurde am 16.1.1960 vom Vorsitzenden des FDGB-Bundesvorstandes, Herbert Warnke, in der DDR herzlich willkommen geheißen. Über 100 Journalisten des In- und Auslandes sowie Westdeutschlands und ebenso viele verdienstvolle Arbeiter und Ingenieure nahmen an der internationalen Pressekonferenz an Bord des Schiffes teil, das festlich über die Toppen geflaggt an dem Pier des neuen Rostocker Hafens liegt. UBz: Die zur Pressekonferenz geladenen Gäste besichtigen eine der beiden Schwimmbäder der "Völkerfreundschaft". |
