Nederlands: Negatief. Bananen (pisang) komen net als de doerian in de hele archipel voor. De plant - een boom is het eigenlijk niet (biologen noemen de stam een schijnstam) - was op vele erven in dorpen en steden te vinden. In tegenstelling tot de doerian, die slecht reist, werd en wordt de banaan op grote schaal geëxporteerd en werd ze ook op ondernemingen verbouwd. Overigens hoort de banaan eigenlijk eerder thuis in het rijtje van de zetmeelhoudende gewassen die het hoofdbestanddeel van elke maaltijd uitmaken (granen, knollen) dan in dat van de vruchten, het luxevoedsel voor de rijkeren.
