Description
Nederlands: Foto. Het Atjeh Museum werd opgericht door generaal Swart, goeverneur van Atjeh. Het gebouw kon als een blokkendoos uit elkaar genomen worden, de bedoeling was dat het ooit in zijn geheel naar Nederland verplaatst zou worden. In 1914 was het op de Koloniale Tentoonstelling te Semarang geplaatst. Op 31 augustus 1915 werd het gebouw op de Esplanade te Koeta Radja (tegenwoordig: Banda Aceh) geopend. Reeds vanaf de oprichting was de privé-collectie etnografica van Friedrich Stammeshaus, tevens conservator van het museum, de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheid van het museum. Nadat Stammeshaus zijn collectie in 1931 aan het Koloniaal Museum verkocht, bleef slechts een klein aantal objecten achter in het museum (Stammeshaus, p. 96). Het Atjeh Museum in Koetaradja
