| Description |
Nederlands: foto. Aanzienlijk minder spectaculair dan het traditionele huis van de Toradja's is het Boeginese huistype. Het behoort tot het 'Maleise' prototype, gebouwd op palen, met een vloer en wanden van planken of bamboe en een dak met 'stro' gedekt. Het woongedeelte van het huis kan slechts via een trap bereikt worden, die eerst naar de veranda leidt. De ruimte onder het huis is soms geheel of ten dele afgeschoten voor vee. Op veel Boeginese huizen vinden we, net als op de foto, gekruiste versieringen die de horens van een waterbuffel (karbouw) voorstellen. Het is niet bekend of de fotograaf de hierboven geciteerde beschrijving ('mijn Boegineesch paleis') cynisch bedoelde. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
