English: Road to the templecomplex Borobudur
Nederlands: Negatief. De bouw van deze wereldberoemde 'tempel' dateert van rond 800 (ter vergelijking: het jaar van de keizerskroning van Karel de Grote). Het verschil met de Diëng tempeltjes kon haast niet groter zijn, ook al staan ze qua tijd en plaats juist dicht bij elkaar. De Boroboedoer is enorm en Boeddhistisch, de Diëng tempels zijn klein en Hindoeïstisch. De Brit Raffles liet de grotendeels overwoekerde ruïnes in 1814 opnemen en gaf er in zijn History of Java een (voor die tijd) uitvoerige beschrijving van. Daarmee gaf hij als een van de eerste Europeanen blijk het belang van het bouwwerk in te zien. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Weg met bomen naar tempelcomplex Borobudur |
