English: Introductory note to Începem ("We Begin"), a comedy written for Alexandru Davila's Troupe, Bucharest, Romania. The text was quickly drafted by Caragiale as the basis for a one-time-only performance:
Inainte de Cortină Simplă glumă de ocazie ocazională; într'un act, de Caragiale. Jucată pentru prima şi ultima oară astăseară de toată Compania 'Davila'.
("Before the Curtain A mere occasioned occasional joke; one-act play, by Caragiale. Staged tonight for the first, and last, performance by the whole 'Davila' Company.")
