English: Carlos Gardel (circled) photographed with his schoolmates when he attended the primary school. The photo was given to the magazine by Berta Gardes, the singer's supposed adoptive mother, and published in 1936 for the first time.
Español: Fotografía de un grupo escolar, en el que aparece Carlitos Gardel cuando cursaba el primer grado de la instrucción primaria. Proporcionada a la revista por Berta Gardes, supuesta madre adoptiva del cantor. Los adictos a la versión francesista afirmaban que esta fotografía había sido tomada en la escuela Superior de niñas de la calle Talcahuano 678, donde cursó primer grado Charles Romuald Gardes, hijo de Berthe Gardes. La investigadora Martina Iñiguez probó que esta fotografía fue tomada en la Escuela de 2do Grado de Varones No 27 de la calle Durazno 337 (numeración antigua) del barrio Palermo de Montevideo, antes de que Berta Gardes llegara a Buenos Aires con su hijito francés de dos años de edad.
El legislativo montevideano facultó a la Intendencia a colocar una placa recordatoria en homenaje a Carlos Gardel en el predio de la calle Durazno y Martínez Trueba, donde se ubica la Asociación Cultural Israelita Jaime Zhitlovsky. En la mencionada asociación se encontraba la Escuela Urbana de Varones de Segundo Grado Nº 27, centro de estudios al cual concurrió Gardel. Es de destacar este nuevo reconocimiento de carácter oficial que efectúan los organismos públicos en pos de reafirmar la tesis que defiende la nacionalidad uruguaya del máximo cantor, esta vez por parte del Gobierno Departamental de Montevideo. |
