Summary[edit]

Description
English: Carr Mill Dam and outflow Carr Mill Dam was extensively extended to hold the water supply for the Sankey Brook Navigation, built 1755 - 1757, England's first canal of the Industrial Revolution. The waters flowed from the outflow on the right via the Blackbrook to the canal. As boats used water to lock up and down the canal, water would be released from the dam to maintain the levels in the pounds between the locks.
