| Description |
Departure concourse, with some aircraft in the distance. Asia is densely populated, so widebodies tend to fly even short routes. Taiwan's EVA Air has sent two widebodies in, in fact, despite a flight distance just over an hour from Taipei. There is also a familiar sight (for me, anyway) of a United Airlines plane. Still in the 1993 Battleship Gray paint, it had come in from Vietnam and will continue to San Francisco as Flight 862. United's Vietnam service, first by a US airline since the 1975 fall of Saigon, initially operated with a 747 that would otherwise sit overnight in Hong Kong, but upon the 2010 Continental Airlines merger, has switched over to a Continental Micronesia Boeing 737. |
