Summary[edit]

Description

One very mint example of a Corvette C2 (1963-1967) convertible.

The name "Sting Ray" was introduced for the C2 due to its shark-like shape, complete with non-functional side vents. From C3 on, the name was combined into one word, "Stingray."

The black vanity license plate was of the standard design used in California from 1963, the last time all plates were re-issued in the state, through the early 1970s. Sequential license plates of that vintage would have used the format ABC 123. The 1970s switched the plates to blue background, with sequential format 123 ABC, then from 1978 on the sequential format was changed again to 1ABC123. California plates would become white, with red "California" and blue number lettering, in the 1980s, with a few variations (the famed Golden State sunrise, and today's cursive "California").

To the left is a second-generation (1987-1991) Toyota Camry, still very common on Southern California streets. That particular generation of the Camry is practically indestructible. The Camry's plate is of the 1988-1993 design with white background and blue letters, where the red "CALIFORNIA" title had gone back to the old embossed pattern used on the black and blue plates.
