Description

Jerusalem

English: Old Jerusalem, the tree in front of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer no longer exists.

As I entered church, I was preceded by a young Israeli female (early 20s) with a bolt action rifle slung over her back. I was a bit surprised since even the places that allow concealed weapons in the US often exempt churches. Nothing was immediately said to her, but when she tried to sit down in the narthex, she was asked to go outside. She willingly complied. In reading about Israel/Palestine, I came across this story where the IDF was not quite as respectful of the desire to keep guns out of churches. www.wfn.org/2002/04/msg00121.html
