Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Zodiac boat rests on a launch dock after being used by Marines with 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force to conduct depth analysis off a beach at Camp Pendleton, Calif., July 14, 2014. More than a dozen Marines from the battalion conducted a weeklong training mission at the base to test their ability to carry out hydrographic surveys beyond their home station at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The unit’s mission is to plan, direct, collect, produce and disseminate intelligence information to support Marine units. They recently pioneered the hydrographic survey program and traveled to Camp Pendleton as a test of their capabilities beyond their base of operations. The Marines’ successful deployment of their survey program to California helped prove their concept has the potential to reach out and support Marine units in various training and operational environments in the future.
