Summary[edit]
DescriptionClass 47 WCRC Crewe.jpg |
Note to self: NEVER use "Sports" mode in rubbish lighting! Anyway, here is 47787, "Windsor Castle", in WCRC "Maroon" livery. This unit has had a long service on Britain's railways including being one of the two 47s used to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee. 47787 also was involved in a serious accident near the Kensal Green Tunnel after colliding with a Class 83. The Electric locomotive was later withdrawn from service. Our diesel locomotive was also serious damaged. However, spending two years at Crewe Works the unit emerged fully repaired. The locomotive has since undergone three different names: "S.S. Great Britain" from 1992 to 1994, "Victim Support" 1994-2002 and currently wears the "Windsor Castle" plate which it has carried since April 2002. Anyone like the little story there? :-P |
