English: Cold and hungry: Baltasound This Grey Heron has been sheltering beside the trees in the Halligarth plantation as the snow and high tide mean that there are no feeding opportunities. Grey Herons are very susceptible to cold weather and hard winters have notable effects on the British breeding population. That said, herons in Shetland have been proven from ringing recoveries to originate from Norway. |
