Description The hull of the first U.S. Navy Martin JRM-1 Mars is raised from Chesapeake Bay (USA). The "Hawaii Mars" (BuNo 76819) had been accepted by the U.S. Navy on 21 July 1945 but sank in Chesapeake Bay on 5 August 1945 after porpoising during landing.
