Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 6. Juni 1890 vom bayerischen Prinzregenten Luitpold von Bayern genehmigt und geht zurück auf ein Gerichtssiegel von 1456. Der Adler entstammt dem Wappen der Grafen von Leiningen, die Kreuzchen gehen vermutlich auf das Kloster Weißenburg zurück, welches Lehnherr für Grünstadt war. Die Farbe Grün wurde erst 1890 redend für den Ortsnamen gewählt.
English: The arms were granted on June 6, 1890. They are derived from a seal dating from the end of the 14th century. The eagle is taken from the arms of the counts of Leiningen, who owned the town in the 14th century. The origin of the crosses is unknown, may be that they bear a reference to the Weissenburg abbey.
