Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Rhynern, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Hamm: „In Gold (Gelb) untereinander drei rote Kugeln, ein in zwei Reihen von Rot und Silber (Weiß) geschachter Balken und ein gesenkter, breiter roter Balken.“ Das Wappen wurde der erst seit 1968 neu bestehenden Großgemeinde 1969 verliehen. Der geschachte und der rote Balken erinnern an die Zugehörigkeit zur Grafschaft Mark wie auch an den politischen Einfluss der Bischöfe von Münster. Die drei Kugeln entstammen dem Wappen des hiesigen Adelsgeschlechts Pentling-Hilbeck.
English: „Or, one below the other three torteaux, one two-rowed fess chequy gules and Argent and a wide lowered fess gules.“ The arms were officially granted in 1969. The fess chequy is derived from the arms of the Counts of the Mark, as the area historically belonged to the County Mark. The lower half shows the red bar of the State of Münster, as part of the municipality was historically ruled by the Bishops of Münster. The upper part shows three roundels, derived from the arms of the local Pentling-Hilbeck family.
