Description

A U.S. Navy North American DF-1C Fury (BuNo 136074) from Utility Squadron 8 (VU-8) at Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, maneuvers a Grumman QF-9G Cougar drone (BuNo 128290) into position for a missile firing exercises off the station, in 1963. The ship which fired on the drone assumed control of the unmanned target at this point. The escort jet waited at a safe distance until operations were completed and guided the drone back to the station.
